Kingdom At Work

Each person is hand-made. Crafted by the hand of God Himself. This includes the people on your team and it means that at every person’s core, the most true thing about them is that they are God’s people (not your people) and He deeply loves them.
As a leader, would you rather join with God in how He loves His creation? Or work against it?
Before you answer that question, you need to know what it practically looks like to love God’s people as He loves them. Here are some pointers:
- Change your mind about who the people in your company belong to. This small change in perspective could create seismic shifts in the way you love the people entrusted to your care.
- Spend time inside and outside of work really getting to know each person on your team (their family, friends, dreams for the future, etc.). If you sense you don’t have time for this, consider restructuring the size of your team to make sure you (and other leaders in your company) can make this happen.
- Help people reach their fullest potential for God’s purposes (not your own purposes), even if it means they leave your company. If you’re loving people to get something from them, you aren’t actually loving them.
- Love people by telling them the truth… but not in a judgmental way. Rather, focus all truth-telling on developing them into who they were created to be.
As a leader, if this subject is speaking to you deeply, we’d encourage you to do a couple things:
First, pray a simple pray as often as you think about it. “Lord, break my heart for the people around me!”
